Moving. [Nov. 16th, 2006|02:39 am]
In case anyone still reads this, I'm moving to self-hosting on randomc0de.com/blog. Planning on adding an RSS feed if anyone uses a feed-reader, keep checking the site until I do. I like self-hosting. Makes me feel good knowing I own everything, right down to the hardware and code that runs on it. Is that a bit too controlling?

My brain is tired from finishing one project and jumping right into the next. Even worse is making a context switch in the middle of execution. Whenever I switch to a different task, I have to load ten different threads into memory. My brain is not a computer, I am not efficient at multiprocessing. It's only the second week of school.

It's been a while. [Sep. 26th, 2006|12:34 am]
It's been so long since I've checked livejournal they revamped the whole interface without me noticing. I don't know if I'll actually keep using this journal. The hook into facebook is nice, but I figure if people want to know what's going on in my life, they'll know by talking to me. And if I need a place to vent my random thoughts, emotions, political feelings, I think an pseudo-anonymous location would be better. If I ever get in trouble, deny, deny deny. But since I'm still here for now....
Current Projects -
All computer related I'm afraid, but here's what's on my plate:
1. Work. I'm still maintaining Culture, but that's mostly done. The new one is a Call Auction market via Econport, funded in part by the NSF. Thanks for your tax dollars paying my salary!
2. School. CMPS111 and CMPS104A are both really programming-intense classes. Right now I'm setting up a SVN/Apache2 server for all my sources. Getting Minix up and running for 111 is a pain, since I'm rather picky about how everythings setup. I have no partner so far for either class, and I kind of like that. My last programming partner was Joyce, and she was really hot but did no work. Mainly because I'm a control freak and need to learn how to code with other people better. Actually, all because I'm a control freak about coding. I think I may have kicked her off the keyboard at one point...
3. Xbox. Trying my damnest to get Gentoox up. I may go back to Xebian it's so fucking difficult. I just need something with TV-out so I can play the massive amount of media I have on my hard-disk. Also kewl for parties.
4. TV. Very hooked on the Office, Weeds, and 24. I have every episode of the Office and Weeds so far on my computer. 24 doesn't start until January, but it'll be awesome when we finally get to see what happened. We have the absolute most basic cable you can get at our house - 12.99 a month. You can only get it in Santa Cruz county. As a result I'm watching almost zero TV. My work ethic has gone up in a manner inverse proportionaly to this.

The new house is incredible. The rotation of people in it may have changed, but me and JC are still here. We're planning a few parties soon, anyone who reads this far is very welcome to drop by. Next up will probably be an Irish bash. Guinness, Whiskey, car bombs, etc... Very drunk, very fun. Gotta start soon before school heats up.

That's all folks, maybe forever.

I was bored today so I wrote the eminent "Pong" in Python. It's mildly amusing for 10 minutes, then really boring. Exactly like the original! Definitely more fun to write than to play. If you feel like testing it out, copy and paste the code into a file called "Pong.py". Python v2.4 has to be installed (http://www.python.org/download/ on OSX or Windows, apt-get install python for Debian Linux). Double click the icon and it should start up. May not work in Windows, apparently the GUI toolkit doesn't like threading.

Tomorrow it's either surfing or more programming fun. Decisions, decisions...

Oh yeah, Ferris Bueller's Day off finished downloading. More things to do on the plane trip to Alaska!

The turn that never ends. Santa Cruz, CA. I've driven over Highway 17 one too many times.
